Yeah so.... it has been a while since I last posted. From my last post I was able to acquire the credenza and record cabinet that I went and looked at. I got the credenza in the house and loved the way it looked as is, so I left it alone and as you can see it is a lovely place to put my succulents. The record player is in good shape and we were able to get the radio to work. I would like to have a professional come and clean it up inside and get it in working shape so I can use it everyday. Or even update it so I can sync my phone to it. Don't mind my blurry Odin in the corner. He was excited to see the credenza too.
If I can do it so can you.
This Blog is a place where I will be posting all about my attempts and adventures of ideas I find on Pinterest.

Mid-Century Madness!
OMFG! I am so excited! Since last summer I have had this bug to acquire some mid-century furniture pieces and repurpose them. I have been looking for a record player credenza and a record cabinet. I have been diligently sifting through craiglist listings to find these pieces. The problem I keep running into is that they are either too much $ or they have already been repurposed and are not quite what I like. Earlier this evening I was searching and I think I may have found them! I am so stoked. I just hope they look as good in person as in the pictures. I am going to check them out tomorrow so I will let you know.
(Here are some samples of what I am talking about, keep in mind these are not the actual ones I am going to see.)

Floating Shelves
So I found this tutorial on (where else?) Pinterest and I was like "I could totally do that!" With the help of my Step-Dad and his tools we went at it.
Not gonna lie these took me forever to finish. Not because they were hard. They are actually pretty easy. But because I can be lazy and get sidetracked by pretty much anything and ooh something shiny! See, it is true.
My Step-Dad came over last fall and we were able to get them made in just two days. He left town and all I had dot do was stain and place them on the walls. Due to the afore mentioned laziness, that did not happen until this last weekend LOL. My Mom came to visit with getting this job done in mind (thanks Mom). Sometimes you just need a kick in the a** to finish a project. We did two coats of stain and I sprayed clear sealer on them to finish. I placed them just this morning and I am so excited to get them decorated.
Warning!: Be sure to measure the space between the walls at where the back of the shelve is going to sit as well as the space where the front of the shelve is. I found out that neither of my bathrooms are the same size in the front of the shelve as in the back so even though you cannot see it in my shelves they are not flush against the wall on all sides (but pretty close) so don't be worried if yours aren't either (your friends and family will just be in awe that you actually made them yourself that they won't notice).
Here is the finished project (well except without the decor items). We got all the supplies at our Home Depot (love that store).
Succulents, Succulents, and more Succulents.
I don't want to toot my own horn but, Beep-Beep! This terrarium is amaze-balls!
Succulents are becoming more and more popular thanks to Pinterest. I spent quite a bit of time researching their care and the many different succulents out there. To be honest there are so many it is hard to remember them all. I did discover that they will grow anywhere and they are almost indestructible, so I said screw it and just started buying the ones I thought looked cool.
Luckily these little guys are fairly inexpensive. What is expensive are the planters and the filler, so keep an eye out for coupons and shop around. I found that Home Depot has the best selection of succulents. I have looked at Fred Meyer's and as a last resort Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart had the worst selection. It was very limited. What I did find at Wal-Mart though was the decorative rock as a filler. The moss and sand I got at Michaels.
Tips:
-Fillers-
The rock you can find in the home decor section in most stores next to the fake plants. When I was getting ready to put this terrarium together I did't want to use up all my sand on the bottom layer, so I cut a 2 inch section out of a milk jug (making sure to keep it connected) so that I could use it as a barrier. I positioned it at the bottom and filled the center with rock and then poured the sand around the outside.
-Placing-
Don't worry yourself with what goes with what. Just find a few and stick them in. They are all succulents so they all go well together. I will admit that I was a little weary of this one being a little dull, but then I added the bright green moss and it gave it that pop it needed.
-Planters-
Thrift Stores! Yard sales! Mason jars! This will save you so much money. The big jar above at retail value is close to $50. Yikes! I scored mine at a thrift store for $14 Don't worry about finding actual planters, think outside the box. As for the Mason jars, do not go out and buy a box. Just use the ones that you have in your pantry (spaghetti sauce jars, jam jars, any jars for that matter).
(All of these were thrift store finds. The two in the back on the right are decor apothecary jars and the one up front is a votive candle holder. Neither of these were more than $2 a piece)
What is this all about?
Hey there, I created this blog to document my adventures and attempts at projects that were inspired from pins I found on Pinterest. I am interested in all kinds of crafts, cooking, and decorating. I will warn you that I have no prior experience in any of these fields, other than the vast amount of internet research I do until I feel confident that I can accomplish said project and everyday life experience. I am not a craftswoman, I am not decorator, and by no means am I a chef (although my husband has no complaints). I, like most other Pinterest users primarily get inspired by the pins we find and then do nothing with them. This year I am going to attempt as many pins as possible. I have no plan or agenda on how and when these projects will be completed. I am just going to start and see what happens. Please feel free to share your ideas and ask questions if I am not clear on things.
